Pickaxes are items that can be either held in inventory or wielded by leveling up your mining skills. Some pickaxes that can be held inside inventory require a high enough level of attack to wield it. Thru mining, you can obtain different kinds of ores and sell it to gain Runescape gold, but some ores requires high level of mining skills and pickaxe. In the older patch of Runescape, pickaxes can be damaged during the exploding rock random event. If the pickaxe is damaged through mining, it can be repaired by visiting Nurmof from the Dwarven Mine or Bob from Lumbridge Axe Shop at the cost of small Runescape gold. Now on today’s patch, pickaxes can no longer damaged when mining.

An ore is a type of rock which is usually unrefined metal that can be mined from different mining location. You can obtain the ores as long as you have high enough level of mining skill and pickaxe. Ores can be converted into bars thru a furnace depending on the level of smiting skills. You can also sell ores to other players to obtain Runescape gold or sell it in the Grand Exchange. The higher the level of the ore, the higher the Runescape gold you gained.

Remember that some bars need at least 2-3 ores of combination to obtain one bar.
