Ashes have some uses for MEMBERS using Herblore skill which is an ingredient for Serum 207 (a temporary cure for afflicted villagers of Mort’ton). FREE players can only collect ashes from burnt out fires and Fire Spirits and sell them for RS gold.

Making some quick RS gold from ashes are easier to players especially to newbies which it only requires no skills at all. All you have to do is head to the Grand Exchange. Browse any items that can make fire (such as willow logs). You could buy them since they are especially cheap or you could just cut down willow trees and get their logs. If you decided to just buy them at the Grand Exchange, buy them all until you inventory is full.

Once you are done buying the willow logs, lit all the logs in you inventory. Wait until the fire runs out and collect all the ashes. This should make you inventory full of ashes once you pick them all. Sell all the ashes at the Grand Exchange for Rs gold. Repeat the process until you’re satisfied with the results.
